Why didn’t Thor use Gungnir when Mjolnir was destroyed making him the King of Asgard and the rightful wielder of a king’s weapon?

Except Thor did use Gungnir….for a time. He used it to fight his half-sister Hela, and he demonstrated a considerable amount of skill. Here's a still from their fight…

As you can see, he used Gungnir to fight against his bloodthirsty sister Hela (look up Thor vs Hela Throne Room fight scene on YouTube for the full fight.). And he did use it well, despite some skepticism on my part, and here's why I was a skeptic…

-For one thing, the spear was extremely long. I wouldn't think it would be easy wielding that in that close proximity of a fight. Stormbreaker actually would be better in close-quarters, especially when you look at the close-quarters fights he's had with it. He does a lot better than he did with Gungnir that close.

-Gungnir was mainly used as a weapon by Odin himself, and I'm pretty reasonably sure that the dwarves of Nidavellir would have designed it with Odin in mind, given at the time he was a considerably younger age, and didn't show signs of death or old age. So Gungnir was most likely designed for Odin and to amplify his abilities, not Thor's.

-Gungnir also hasn't been shown to have a lot of powers or magical abilities in the MCU. It just sorta seems like a sharp rod used to poke and kill people with. If Thor used it against Thanos and the threats that followed Hela? It probably wouldn't have turned out well.

And plus, as far as the Asgardians were concerned? Thor had already proven his worth in the days past. Asgard was destroyed, yes, but most of the population were still alive for the time being, and he ultimately did what he had to with his subjects' best interests at heart. He nearly died fighting Hela and trying to ensure the Asgardians could leave. It wasn't until Hulk popped out that they realized they could leave too. In the end, it's not a weapon or crown that makes a man or woman a ruler, even if they have the blood of a deity coursing throughout their veins. It's their noble actions and their willingness to do whatever it takes to protect their people.
